Things to Do in Greenwich

Greenwich Point is the town’s crown jewel. The 147-acre park with its sandy beach sits on a peninsula jutting into Long Island Sound. It’s open year-round and its many visitors enjoy an array of activities such as walking, jogging, cycling, and swimming. Gorgeous panoramic views showcase stunning waterfront homes along Greenwich’s coastline and extend as far as the scenic Manhattan skyline.
 
Greenwich’s verdant greenery and scenic Long Island Sound waterfront provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Fronting Long Island Sound’s Smith Cove inlet, Bruce Park is a popular spot for families with its large playground. Other amenities at the park include a croquet court, tennis courts, athletic fields, shimmering ponds, walking paths, and a gazebo.
 
The nearby Bruce Museum features an eclectic array of permanent exhibits that focus on Native American culture and history, Impressionist artwork, archeology, natural history, local wildlife, and the relationship between humans and the natural environment. There are also diverse exhibits focused on many different aspects of art and nature.
 
Ferries regularly depart from Greenwich Harbor to Great Captain Island and Island Beach, located two miles south. Great Captain Island features a 19th Century lighthouse and sandy swimming beach. Island Beach is also a popular swimming destination with a life-guarded and protected beach extending over 1,000 feet. Both islands are easily accessible by private boats.
 
Greenwich Town Party is a major annual event inspired by the many regional celebrations held in communities in Spain. The party has live performances from major acts and past lineups have included Alabama Shakes, The Beach Boys, Eagles, Dave Matthews, Eric Clapton, Hall & Oates, John Fogerty, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, Santana, and Steely Dan.
